If there is one thing about bridal market, it’s that you see A LOT of dresses in a very short amount of time.
I just got back from national bridal market in Chicago, and after seeing collection after collection, there were definitely a few trends that kept showing up.
Some of them I’m very into. Some of them I think will take a little longer to catch on. And some honestly just confirmed what we’ve already been seeing
with our brides here in Greenville.
Here are the biggest wedding dress trends I think we’ll be seeing more of in 2027.›
Drop Waists and Basque Waists Are Not Going Anywhere
This was probably the least surprising trend to me because we’ve already been seeing it everywhere, but drop waists and Basque waists are still going VERY strong.
And I’m not mad about it.
When they’re done well, they are ridiculously flattering. They create such a long, sculpted look through the torso and can make even a very classic wedding dress feel more modern.
We’ve already had so many Greenville brides asking for this shape, so this is definitely one trend I expect to keep growing.
Necklines Are Getting Cleaner
For the last few years, there were deep plunges everywhere. At market this season, I noticed a big shift toward cleaner, more minimal necklines.
Think higher necklines, straighter shapes, soft scoops and really simple structured bodices.
It feels a little more refined and editorial, and personally, I love it.
That doesn’t mean plunging necklines are completely gone, but they definitely weren’t dominating the collections the way they have in previous seasons.

Exposed Boning Is Starting to Calm Down
Corsetry is still here, but the really obvious exposed-boning look seems to be slowing down.
There was still plenty of structure, but it felt more intentional and elevated. Instead of every dress looking like a corset, the boning was more often worked into the overall design.
I think this will be a really nice change for brides who love the snatched, structured look but still want their wedding dress to feel timeless.
Volume Is Voluming
Big skirts are back in a BIG way.
Ball gowns, dramatic overskirts, exaggerated silhouettes, huge trains. There was definitely a shift toward more statement-making shapes.
For a while, bridal was leaning very sleek and minimal. That is still absolutely around, but there is clearly more room now for drama.
And honestly, I’m here for it.
Sparkle Is Coming Back, But Differently
This one surprised me a little.
After several seasons of very clean, understated bridal, sparkle is definitely starting to come back. But instead of super delicate shimmer, I saw more obvious
rhinestones and statement embellishment.
I don’t think every bride is suddenly going to want a fully sparkly dress, especially here in Greenville where we tend to see a lot of clean,
modern and lace-forward styles, but I do think we’ll start seeing sparkle used in more interesting ways.
Sheer Is Slowly Moving Out
Sheer wedding dresses are not disappearing overnight, but I definitely saw fewer ultra-sheer bodices than we have in the past.
The trend seems to be shifting toward more coverage while still keeping shape and structure.
For brides who have loved the corseted look but didn’t necessarily love how exposed some of those gowns felt, this is a very good thing.
So What Does This Mean for Greenville Brides?
The biggest takeaway from market is that bridal is getting a little more dramatic while also getting more refined.
There is still plenty of clean, modern bridal, but now we’re seeing more shape, more volume, more interesting waistlines and more intentional detailing.
When I shop for The Bridal Loft, I’m always thinking less about what is technically “trending” and more about what our brides are actually asking for.
That means bringing in wedding dresses that still feel fashion-forward, but also wearable, flattering and like something our Greenville brides will actually want to put on.
And after seeing what is coming for 2027, I’m very excited about where bridal is headed.
